Welcome to 'Sports Trainer'

Welcome to 'Sports Trainer', an Athlete Injury Management Platform that has approached this area a little differently.

Trainers/First Aiders within Sporting Organisations are critical to the welfare of athletes, the way that injuries are managed and ultimately their return to training and/or play to perform at their best. Trainers/First Aiders typically manage these injuries with whatever tools they can get their hands on and probably more importantly, individual talent and time they invest.

How does it work?

Athletes create their own profile and enter relevant information against their profile, such as:

  • Personal Details (limited to Name, DOB & Gender)
  • Contact Details
  • Emergency Contacts
  • Existing Medical Conditions and Treatment Plans, such as Asthma
  • Existing strapping information. E.g., Right shoulder is to be strapped to provide support of the AC Joint on game day only.

They then request to join a sporting organisation or club and when they are accepted, the organisation or club then has access to their profile.

An athlete may be a member of multiple sporting organisations/clubs across multiple sporting codes.

If an athlete is injured, an injury report is created and if the athlete is a member of any other sporting organisation, those organisations are sent notifications advising them of the injury.

A holistic support effort to support the athlete can then be put in place.

We call this our 'vertical' and 'horizontal' support approach.

This is especially important when the athlete has suffered a concussion.

What about privacy?

The athlete is in control of what sporting organisations can see their data. If they leave a sporting organisation/club, they simply end that relationship.

The athlete can choose to send relevant information to whoever they wish. For example, if they are seeing a medical professional about an injury, they can email a pdf copy of the injury to the medical professional to get firsthand and independent information on the injury.

Where are we at?

We are currently building a prototype to prove the concept of our idea and have engaged sports trainers, physiotherapist, osteopaths, and emergency doctors on the sort of information we need to be capturing in the Injury Reports.

The concussion protocols that we are embedding into the platform will be based on the guidelines provided by the AIS and that have been adopted by AFL and Netball Australia to name just a few.

Initial discussions with sporting associations have been positive with trailing and testing 'Sports Trainer' platform in a real-life environment.

We have been reaching out to anyone who may have an interest in the platform and can provide help of any nature.

Our profile is growing on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and now our web site.

Can I get involved?
